Dolly tracks or a Camera Dolly, is a wheeled cart that is used in film making or television that allows for smooth horizontal camera movements. Using Cinemachine in Unity it allows for one to use “Movie Production” style of cameras. It gives a much more flexible repertoire of cameras. One being the Dolly Track.

In the Virtual Camera, there are several different settings. One being the Aim settings, the Body settings and then General settings. The Aim settings, affect how it views the gameobject in the Look At field. The Body settings affect the entire camera. It tells the camera how to look at things in a general sense. In this instance, it is set to a “Tracked Dolly”, thus it is attached to a “Cart” so to speak. The path, is a set of waypoints that the camera can move across to get different angles for a camera shot.

Using Timeline again, we can animate the camera moving across the dolly track to get the desired effect that we want.
